Horse meat, would you eat it?

Horse market of years gone by

Horse market of years gone by

I have been horse crazy ever since I can remember. When I turned six I was finally allowed to take pony riding lessons. In my early teens I saw a documentary on horse slaughter. I still have the images tattooed in my memory. Horses tight  to each other and then shot one after another, horses walking up a ramp into the house of death, dreadful transport to a slaughter house on a boat, half dead trampling over each other, broken legs and dead horses. Those memories I have not been able to erase. So being the wimp that I am,  I do not want to add new tattoos to my memory. My imagination is vivid enough and can see without my eyes having to witness it. Read more

Queens Day and Pony Games

jumping on

One of the best days of the year, almost better than Christmas and birthdays used to be Queens day. Queens day was special when I was young. All the pony clubs and riding schools from the area came to the soccer fields and we had great silly competitions. I think they might be the English pony Gymkhana Read more

Horses are not moving ….

huis-te-koop

Well that is sort of silly. But maybe I got your attention. Horse sales seem to be very slow. I know of all these great beautiful horses that are for sale at much lower prices they would have cost several years ago or even last year. This recession knows no ends.  I hear different predictions when it will turn around.

Code of Conduct for boarding stables

Boarding stable in Germany

What if half the boarding stables were taken over by people know how to survive through excellence in the service industry? Who would hire people with horse knowledge but manage their barn based on service. How empty would the other half be? This has no reference to my current stable, I enjoy myself there, but my post is based on shared stories from others and my past experiences. Like so many of you I have my horses at a boarding stable. These usually make a living out of boarding horses, trade, riding school and training in various combinations thereof. Read more

My Training Plan for Beau and Me This Year

Will Beau start looking like his dad Rhodium?

Will Beau start looking like his dad Rhodium?

I need to set some goals. Not to worry, I am just a simple amateur. But I want to get past this freewheeling stage. He is old enough to grow, to reach the next level. He may be tall, relatively weak in the hind quarters, this all will not get better until we seriously address the muscles there.  Read more

New Start

Life gets difficult when information technology fails me. The problem is that I am not techie enough to solve items by myself. I hate that, but this is when I need help. At first I got advice from my hosting provider GoDaddy on how to solve the issue. It was clear and to the point, I just couldn’t get it to work.

And now I got a mail from GoDaddy claiming the issue has been solved. I was doubtful, ready to give up on my blog, but they did it. I don’t know what they did or how they did it, I am just very happy that they solved my problem and I am back on air.

Thank you GoDaddy!

Patience – sorry

Sorry, need to get rid of an error and working on it. I am just not the biggest techie in the world, so a little patience.

Thank you!
